Here’s Why You Need Amazon Prime

I cannot live without Amazon. It’s where I do my online shopping in the United States. I browse the products I need, (if I’m honest the ones I WANT but don’t really need), and after a couple of clicks, I just wait for two days or less, it will show up on my doorsteps or in my mailbox.

I have a secret weapon when it comes to maximizing this site, I am an Amazon Prime member. And here are three reasons why you need Amazon Prime, too.

Free 2-day (or better) shipping.

The good thing about online shopping is you don’t need to drive and waste gas just to buy something. You can order it online at Amazon’s website or app. The bad news is, shipping the product from Amazon’s warehouse to your house costs money. That could cost anywhere between $4 to $10, depending on how quickly you want it to arrive or the type of product you’re ordering.

If you sign up for Amazon Prime, you can get your product shipped to you for free within two days or better. As a Prime member, you may even get it within the next day, there may even be same-day delivery. Before you order anything, make sure that the Prime logo is next to the product you’re ordering.

Amazon started out as an online bookstore, but now it has expanded to pretty much every product in the market. To give you an idea, I ordered the following from Amazon:

  • Hand-held vacuum cleaner
  • PUR water purifier and dispenser (I also regularly order the filter needed for this product)
  • Books (lots of books!)
  • Swim goggles
  • Health supplements such as Iron and multivitamins
  •  Hard case for my acoustic guitar
  • Stereo CD player
  • Rice cooker (every Filipino in the US needs one, right?)
  • A whole lot more!

Movies and Videos at no Additional Cost.

As an Amazon Prime member, you also get access to free movies and videos. Amazon Prime video has so many movies and TV shows to choose from. Some Prime Movies are dated and not very new, but sometimes you also get access to newer ones. A lot of Academy Award winning movies can be found there. Some classics and adventure movies are there, too: Indiana Jones, Transformers, Marvel movies, and a whole lot more. You can watch them without any additional fees.

You also get access to a lot of TV shows.

Amazon has produced some really good shows. At some point, I followed Man in the High Castle, a TV series based on the novel of Philip K. Dick. Since we have a child, there are a lot of educational TV shows for him to watch.

These two reasons alone should be enough to get you excited about Amazon Prime. But if you want more information, you can go to for a full list of the benefits of this service from Amazon.

FREE Ebooks to read.

I am a big reader, although I am trying to cut back on too much reading. But you get access to free books via Amazon Prime. This is done through Kindle Owners Prime Library (well you need to own a Kindle device to get access to this) and Kindle First.

How much does it cost to become an Amazon Prime member?

If you decide to pay monthly, it costs $14.99 but if you got some extra cash, pay the annual amount of $139 and save a bit of money. FOLLOW THIS LINK to become an Amazon Prime member.
